perfect noodle bowl...
i've long thought gina's noodle bowls were nearly perfect.
the nearly part was because while they are appropriate size for regular folk - for us, um, big eaters, they would often necessitate seconds, thirds,etc...
so here's what gina and my wife call a "serving bowl" but i call it the perfect noodle bowl!

eddie vedder - into the wild...
can't wait to see the movie INTO THE WILD
loved the book - very thoughtprovoking - chris mccandless' story is similar to timothy treadwell's of GRIZZLY MAN - both stories ask the question: sage or fool?
more than likely - a bit of each...
anyhow, in the meantime, i am listening to eddie vedder's soundtrack - which is awesome - music that stands alone - yet i am guessing complements the movie as it seems like the songs express many of the ideas from the book....
never really thought one way or another about pearl jam - might have to dust off their records and give 'em a spin

dissed by g*d's messenger of peace...
had a great time at the tremont art festival.
the highlight for me was sunday morning, when our booth (gina, ruth and i shared a booth...) was visited by a guy who said he was g*d's messenger of peace for this area (tremont? cleveland? midwest? USA? earth? milky way?)
he went up to ruth and gina and said to both of them "g*d loves you and you are doing exactly what you should be doing." and then gave them a paper. he looked at me and just said, "hi"... so apparently g*d doesn't love me, i am not doing what i am supposed to be doing, or both...
on the other hand, observing him for a few minutes seemed to indicate that this particular "messenger of peace" was most interested in spreading g*d love to attractive, young females... well, given i am 0-3 on that scorecard, it is no wonder this messenger had no message to deliver to me...

i feel giddy...
i received today an advance copy of the book dandelion
looks like an interesting book, but from a selfish perspective, what is notable to me is that it features a few of my photographs - on the title page and on first page of each chapter and a few other places - i feel giddy....

mother teresa...
letters of mother teresa indicate the last half of her life she did not feel the prescence of g*d
somehow, this makes me admire her even more. for her to keep going and not slip into the despair of inaction is truly awesome - shows her humanity and her gift... personally, i think people want to view "saints" as being different than us as a way to get us off the hook... if i see mother teresa as a saint, i can excuse myself for not trying to emulate her cause after all, she's a saint and i'm a mere human. if, on the other hand, we see her as an ordinary person that did extraordinary things, it is a call to us ordinary humans to also do extraordinary things - and we can't use the excuse that she's a saint and we are not...
all frith/all the time...
as many music listeners do, i listen heavily to one artist or style for an extended period of time...
right now, my taste leans toward avant garde and the musician getting the most play is fred frith
3 items getting a lot of play...
touch the sound - a dvd documentary about outstanding musician evelyn glennie that features fred - i love documentaries and this is an outstanding one about an outstanding musician - made even more amazing in my book, due to glennie's deafness...
the sugar factory, a duo record of frith and glennie
another dvd, step across the border which includes frith, zorn, arto lindsay, etc...
i love documentaries - cracked me up on one page frith was described as recording with "mainstream" artist such as brian eno - sheesh - when eno by comparison, is considered mainstream, you're truly avant garde...lol...
