"so i got that going for me..."

'so i got that going for me...'

image from the life aquatic with steve zizou altered by the author, who does not feel this is a copyright infringement because, after all it was available free on the website, and besides, i am advertising this film, which is a masterpiece, contrary to some reviews i've read... and yet another great bill murray performance (give him an oscar, already dumbasses , um, members of the academy) , and one of the best soundtracks ever, imho

tragedy

the death toll of the tsunami is 25 times that of the WTC tragedy. while it is probably inappropriate to compare tragedies as the circumstances were totally different, i think this gives some perspective. you can donate any number of places, including donating to the red cross through amazon.

this/that

between the movie elektra opening on jan 14 and the january season premiere of alias, january is looking like a great month for jennifer garner fans, a group to which, um, i guess i belong...
;-)

in other news, i have discovered (after several records, so discover here is to be used in the same sense that columbus discovered america), a wonderful musician solex. totally unfamiliar with her prior to reading about her in wired this month - she is a very interesting and unique musician.

state of the blog...

i am not sure what i am up for next, blog-wise. besides the obvious issue of content spam, there has been - well, a content shortage. i find blog-hiatuses a bit pretentious (sorry to anyone who has done this. i mean for me, not you)...

choices include:
  • stay w/mt or switch (prolly to blogger)
  • continue with current format or switch to a more focused format (photos, ed tech, web development, music, scandinavian jazz, all of the above)

i am not asking for advice, per se, but just thinking aloud...

have a great christmas/new year!

music and weather...

i think i listen to different music based on the weather. is that weird? winter for me equates to ecm records, a european label that features jazz - mostly by european - many scandanavian musicians. recent favorite has been this record...

oh yeah, and beer is replaced by courvoisier!

most intelligent readers in the world...

at the risk of sounding patronizing, i feel that my readers are a very intelligent group that never lets me down...

case in point...my request for some electronic music that i only vaguely described brought on this suggestion - drone zone from herb, which is fitting the bill perfectly and allowing me to chill and get rid of the restlessness...

guess i'm not the only one

done...

i am done with the semester and am drained. tired - mentally mostly, but fighting a cold as well. yet, as always, with the adrenaline level up, i feel restless, like, i *should* be doing something. been reading some good books and thinking about next term already.

electronic music...

i am looking for some good electronic music to listen to - ambient - not dance oriented - or new age-y. tangerine dream or eno-esque - any suggestions?

drastic measures

comment spam irks me. so i am experimenting with blogger to see if it handles it better...
