yeah - it is...it's become a household favorite...although my one daughter speculates is some kind of govt mind control,,, the funny thing is if you wait long enough, a link appears (very quickly) to subscribe to a newsletter and if you click on it, an error message displays (on purpose, i believe) - i'm thinking of using it as an humorous example in my web dev class as it's a great parody of flash intros and other stuff that values fluff over functionality and content...well, that and it's good for a laff
Yeah I personally can't stand intros. I like to get where I'm going the instant I click or type it in. I don't want to wait around everytime I visit a site for some silly Flash to load. Call me impatient but I do have things to do with my life that doesn't involve watching some showoff of flash wave. Though I do appreciate a good Flash movie. Anyway I guess that's why I really don't like IGN's site, too many Flash elements make up their site.
there are some sites that use flash effectively to enhance their message, or to entertain - and that's great...much of the usage of flash only serves to distract and waste bandwidth...you're right - it's fun for the developer, but no one else - esp on sites where you have to view it everytime...
that being said, here is a crude animation i made a while back just for the heck of it, that has no redeeming qualities - whack-a-me...http://mikezellers.com/whack-a-me.html
Flash games are a good waste of my time, since I choose to click on it and play or watch whatever. It's when I have no choice but to sit there and view it, that's when I start having issues. That Flash was amusing, now Zombocom commands you to make one as hypnotising!
