it's no secret that i have been having loads of fun with my new digital camera, the most obvious manifestation of which is my photoblog
the main reason i am doing it is that essentially i have no reason for doing it other than it's fun. adults participate in few activities just for the sake of doing them - the activity being it's own end...
why do i enjoy it? in the short time i've been taking digital photos, i found that it influences the way i look at things. it has helped me to see the beauty which surrounds me. it has made me stop and smell the roses - or perhaps more appropriately, stop and take a picture of them (i hate the smell of roses). of course, you might look at my photos and wonder how i see them as being beautiful - well, i do. i admit to being a bit of an odd bird, and if you don't like a buch of photos of trees at night, that's ok - i do. as countless bloggers have said countless time - my blog; my rules. why publish them then? well, to give any other odd birds out there a chance to appreciate them - or at the very least reveal a bit of myself by showing what i find beautiful.
as part of my job, i have just gotten a bunch of design books (great job; free books) which i am looking forward to reading. i am definitely interested in that aspect of web development - moreso than ever. i also am thinking of taking a digital photography class - but am a bit resistant. i am not sure i want to become a competent photographer. instead of planning and taking "good" pictures, i am perfectly happy right now trying something goofy and getting odd, wonderful photos by chance adding to my never ceasing sense of wonder about how beautiful our world can be.
